My Second-Favorite Fourth of July Ever
It was July of 2020. Californians were still living under the illegal authoritarian “restrictions” imposed by their autocratic governor, with no idea of when they might be lifted in any meaningful way. And the City of Los Angeles had just declared a ban on anyone setting off their own fireworks. I think heavy fines may have been declared.
On the evening of July 4th, here’s what happened:
If I said that I didn’t tear up a little when I saw this, I would be lying. In that moment, my faith in humanity got the biggest boost since “all of this” had started. And I’ll never forget it – or how it made me feel about my fellow Angelinos.
Two years later, my family had fled that Godforsaken state, and found ourselves living in Kentucky – a state I had never even visited before. And on the Fourth of July of 2022, I opened the doors to my brand-new membership group: Building Parallel Solutions.
This is a group for people who know what’s wrong with the world right now, and want to do more than just complain about it. It’s for people who are serious about building parallel solutions in areas such as healthcare and education, money and banking, and even justice and governance.
This week, for the two-year anniversary of the group’s inception, I will be opening the doors to new members again. If you’re interested, or would like to find out more, just click here.
And always remember to be like the people of Los Angeles on the Fourth of July in 2020.
