Some folks have been asking me about getting blood from donors who have not received any of the Covid-19 vaccines. So I’m just going to share what I know here.
A while ago, I posted a conversation on the topic with representatives of Safe Blood. I recommend listening to the conversation, because there’s more to it than just finding a good source for blood, in the event you may need a transfusion. The Safe Blood folks also talk about ways to reduce the need for a transfusion. Obviously, there are situations in which it cannot be avoided, but there are times when it can.
Children’s Health Defense California had some articles on the topic, in which they list some of the organizations at the time of writing, that were working to create safe blood supplies. Those articles are no longer posted on the CHD California site, however I did save PDFs of them, and I will paste those here. Here is one more group that does not appear in the CHD articles, and it looks like the Unjected site is back up now.
Also, depending on your circumstances and needs, it may not be necessary to go through one of these groups. If you are having a planned surgery, for example, some hospitals will accept blood donated on your behalf in case it is needed, and I believe that most will still accept autologous donations (where you supply your own blood before a procedure.) The thing to do is check with your hospital beforehand, and if they do accept either or both of these options, then arrange to have blood supplied before the procedure.
Here are the CHD articles, listing some of the organizations:
Thank you so much for putting all of this together - Sad to have to puzzle the pieces together ourselves here, but this is what we have to do on so many fronts now. Thanks again.
