I’ve written about the same thing. I can see upsides with either candidate. But I think Trump in office means the right will not hold him accountable and more bad shit happens when the right is hitting snooze. Whereas, I’ve seen nothing but a cultural right and conservative value uprising since Kamala held office with Biden and my impression is that it is radicalizing and unifying the cultural (not political necessarily) right. That’s good for society in general. Because the DIY, pioneering, ingenuity of the right, the cultural glue of the right helping one another, upholding family and Christian values seems to be the way forward. The cultural left seems to be eating itself with the victim jockeying and social capital monopolization of the unfittest and of course, the depravity olympics which most of us can’t bear to look at longer. I did a blog recently on how the culture war is won viscerally. The reaction to leftism on crack is what we need to unify the true social and fiscal conservatives of the nation. The more obvious it gets, as you point out, the more society can steer away from it- and has. My thoughts exactly. And hopefully if Trump gets elected, which it seems he is the likely candidate, hopefully he doesn’t throw RFK Jr under the bus again for Bill Gates and Elon under the bus for his Morgan Stanley buddies again or grifting with the Saudis to elevate his own family foundation again (a thing he did after condemning Hilary for doing much less) or infringing on 2A with bans that have to wait until the right wakes up again. But hopefully, this dream team he has going is more than a marketing gimmick and the right is ready to hold his feet to the fire because whatever tyranny Trump proposes the left will inevitably say “it’s not enough” and the right generally make excuses for it. I can hardly hear to watch that for four more years.

Yes, this was another point I could have made here - that I'd much rather see a powerful opposition of medical-freedom (and just plain freedom)-minded folks continue to flower, than for "our people" to get complacent because "our guy" (he's not my guy, but you know what I mean) is now in power and everything is going to be OK.

Everything is NOT going to be OK if Trump wins. And I do worry that a whole lot of liberty activists will both sit back and relax, and, as you say, find ways to excuse Trump's tyranny when it happens (and it will happen.) So that's another reason I'm partly hoping Kamala wins.

Of course, I don't want either of them to win. I want so badly for them both to lose. I want for the entire US Govt. to lose. And it IS losing... but it's taking an awfully long time.

Agreed! I would like to see the parts of local govt that serve their individual communities survive the disaster when it happens.

You're thinking libraries, right?

I still think we should vote for Trump (as a Libertarian), however, I agree that maybe the system should be turned into the circus it is and laughed at, so I ultimately will be thinking on the same lines as you if Kamala actually does win.

You make a very compelling point. The only thing that doesn't sit right with me is the probable "storm before the calm." IOW, under another Dem admin (notice I don't say Harris because we all know she's just a puppet), I envision things getting MUCH WORSE before they start to get better. And that's a VERY scary thought!

Expand full comment

Yes, I worry about that too, and it's the main reason that I am genuinely torn about which awful outcome I am rooting for. Yes, the Dems' plans for us would mean things getting much, much worse. But the flip side of that is that we DO have states' rights in this country, and a big part of what keeps states tied to the Feds is money. So choosing to not go along with their terrible agendas does not mean bloodshed or violence of any kind. But it might mean giving up some of that easy Federal cash. Too bad. They should never have been taking it in the first place.

The scarier question is: Would a Kamala Fed. govt. use violence to try to bring renegade states back into the fold? Remember, we're not even talking about secession here. Just nullifying Federal diktats at the state and local level.

Sure, I guess it's possible that they would send in the tanks to stop this. But it would be crossing an enormous line, and I don't know if even these goons would do that. What I do know is that cowering in fear of the worst possible outcome is NOT the best way to deal with bullies. It is probably the worst way. So, whoever ends up in the White House, we need to continue to fight the bastards however we can at the state and local level, with technology, building parallel solutions, whatever we've got. We can't forget who/what the enemy is.

I keep saying, something big is coming. We can get there the easy way or the hard way. I don’t know which that is.

Exactly what I have been praying for—that we take the easy way—the way that hurts the least amount of people. 🙏🏻

I just cannot vote. Last vote was 2000. I just don’t think you can change anything by voting. I have taken a stance of Agorism. I don’t think we can get to a a liberty minded society by voting. I think the only way to achieve liberty is through education. I know it’s anecdotal, but I see a shift in my circles of people towards a freer society.

The horrible political system we live under is 100% the fault of the voters. Not the non-voters. They are to blame the same way non-drivers are to blame for bad traffic.

It is those who are voted in who behave badly. The fault is the voters who voted them in. Those who did not vote are completely blameless. If you voted, the resulting mess is your fault.

Absolutely agree. I call it "squeeze theory". All this bad stuff - total govt control etc - they're all coming anyway. If you think they'll be defeated by humanity (I do) then the quicker them come - and the more obvious they are - the better.

For example a Trump victory might buy Elon 4 years grace to keep X going as a relatively free space for speech. But then what? And if it's entirely dependent on the will and whim of the world's richest man, is that really freedom? Of course not.

A Harris victory would lead to the immediate and obvious seizure and censorship of X - along with the demonisation of about half the US public, who are going to be looking for an alternative just in order to express themselves. They will end up where we will all end up sooner or later - in the social media systems that are geniunely uncensorable. Where there is nobody to put a gun in the face of.

For social media, that network is nostr. It's a protocol, like email, rather than an app or website - and has no central servers or admin. Its very similar to bitcoin in its decentralization. You can read about it here: https://reason.com/2024/08/13/can-nostr-make-twitters-dreams-come-true/

Bitcoin is another example. Trump probably would reduce the conflict with government but that conflict has to come one day. The evil of the deep war state won't just go away, it has to be defeated - and it will be by things like nostr and bitcoin. The sooner it does, the more of our lives we'll be able to live in the freedom that will come beyond.

@Bretigne

I voted for nobody. I voted no on bonds and issues.

Looks to me like the discussion on voting is about who gets to be puppet-in-chief, who gets to be presumptive rule-makers, or who, in some cases, gets to guess what those rules mean, instead of what projects folks want to fund through stolen resources or what rules folks want to impose on most folks.

I wonder if the focus on candidates is a distraction from proposed projects and rules.

I can definitely see the logic here. However, in recognizing that change is afoot regardless

of either Candidate—I have been praying for the easy way, which for me is Trump PLUS the people he has aligned himself with. In fact, I see myself as having voted for RFKJ, Vivek, JD, Tulsi, Elon, Nicole VIA Trump. 🙏🏻🤞🏻🤷‍♀️

But, isn't this the most important election ever? Isn't it important to vote for the people that tell us that every two years and then never fix it? I have not voted early, so I don't have to worry about it on election day...

Would America be better off if Washington DC sank into the swamp of its own creation and disappeared?

Absolutely.

But will Washington DC oblige us?

Kamala Harris is the mouthpiece of an administration that weaponized the TSA to institute Stasi-like surveillance of political dissidents--most notably Tulsi Gabbard but also J6 protestors and activists.

https://newsletter.allfactsmatter.us/p/kamala-harris-what-the-record-shows

Kamala Harris was appointed border czar to address problems of illegal immigration and border security, and during that time 325,000 (and counting) children were "lost" by DHS--which is to say, most likely trafficked--from that same southern border.

https://newsletter.allfactsmatter.us/p/kamala-harris-border-czar-to-traffickers

This is the same woman who as California Attorney General conspired and connived to keep inmates incarcerated past their release dates in order to have a cheap labor supply for the state government.

This is the same woman who had parents put in jail if the state deemed their children had missed too many days of school.

It would be nice if Washington DC would sink into the swamp of its own absurdity. I'm not convinced it will oblige us by so doing. Kamala Harris has too much the track record of fascistic authoritarianism for me to be willing to take that chance.

Expand full comment

At some point, it will, because at some point it will no longer have the resources to maintain the monstrosity it has become.

Expand full comment

Perhaps. I'm not enthused at the prospect of a KamalaKorps of gauleiters imposing "rules" on everybody in the meantime.

What happens "at some point" is probably inevitable. What concerns me is what happens between now and "at some point."

Expand full comment

Yes, me too. But what is it, precisely, that you are worried about, in the event that what I'm talking about comes to pass - more decentralization of authority, more states and local jurisdictions stepping away from the Federal government?

I'm not even talking about secession (although of course I support that too). I'm just talking about state and local nullification of the crazy "rules" that you're talking about.

Do you anticipate that the KK (appropriate, I think) would use force to stop this, very legal, resistance to their total rule?

Expand full comment

When it comes to the election, I'm worried about the decentralization you envision not coming to pass at all.

Kamala Harris has already weaponized government against people she wanted to target. Why would we presume she would refrain from doing so in the future?

Kamala Harris has shown disdain for the law and for what's "legal" throughout her career. As she herself said with almost orgasmic glee, "with the stroke of a pen" a prosecutor (or a President) can do as she pleases.

Would Kamala Harris use force to impose her views on people? Keep in mind that as California Attorney General she already has.

Well, I have to say that as of late last night, I did feel a tremendous surge of relief. I guess I'm glad we don't have to find out.

Expand full comment

This is a very interesting point, but I'll tell you why I think you are dead wrong. There are two possibilities. Either some states will cut loose or none will. In the case where some will cut loose, millions of people will be stranded in states that do not cut loose. Even though I though my state would cut loose, given the fraud in my state, I no longer believe it would. I cannot move. I would be stuck under tyranny. East Germany. If states do not cut loose, then ALL of us will live under tyranny. See how destructive Biden has been. Kamala will be ten times worse. And the little guy, like me, will have no way to escape. I do not expect to survive that. Now if some states cut loose, we will no longer be strong enough to resist China. And China will gladly come in and conquer us all and impose tyranny. Either way, everyone will ultimately live under tyranny. On the other hand, if Trump is re-elected, he will improve things enough so that more people will leave the tyrant party and vote for candidates like him in the future. More real conservative Republicans will be elected to Congress, and we will start to get some things done. And you won't have to worry about an immigrant murdering your children while they are out for a walk. Keep in mind a dead child has no concern about what kind of government we have or don't have. The SYSTEM that was set up by the Founders isn't broken. Washington is broken. The Supreme Court is acting as a brake, returning us to the Constitution little by little. Tyranny can happen overnight. Real solutions leading to freedom are very, very rare. We have been the freest nation ever in the history of the world. We can still return to that if the people will humble themselves before God and stop expecting government to rob the productive to pay them. If we will stop COVETING other people's stuff. So if I thought that my state would cut loose and China would leave us alone, I might agree with you. I don't think there is any possibility this will happen. And I am not willing to take that chance. And above all, I am not willing to vote for someone who is clearly evil down to her toes just so things will fall apart and we can start over. Given that no country has ever had a system like ours, we cannot count on a repeat. It won't happen.

This is kind of retarded. It's equally likely that there is no acceleration and she simply ends the 1st and 2nd Amendment and Americans do not resist.

Trump is no better being a Zionist Jew tool that could get us into WIII just like Kamala Toe.

Just vote no for no one. I am taking my dog for a walk tomorrow and not walking anywhere near a voting booth.

I have a slight preference for a Trump win, but not enough to sign off on the genocide in Gaza that could escalate to WWIII that both both Trump and Kamala Toe support.

Trump has shown that he stops wars. I don't think Trump will get us into WWIII. The most he would do, which would be a good thing, would be to stop Iran in its tracks. And that needs doing. And of course Israel would benefit from that. But the rest of the Arab world hates Iran just as much as Israel does. So neutralizing Iran won't start WWIII, and nobody else is going to get involved at this point either.

Just keep in mind that it is people who didn't vote and could have that got us into this mess with the past 4 years already, and that Trump DID make substantial progress at reversing the evils of Washington. He just needed a few less RINOs in Congress to do the job right. Millions have been killed in the past 4 years. They don't care whether you walk your dog.
